Music Lessons

Cultivating a rewarding relationship with music can begin at any age. With 6+ years of teaching experience, I offer a holistic approach to help students accomplish goals, build confidence, express themselves and experience joy and wonder through music-making.

Teaching Philosophy / Mission Statement

I believe that music is an innate language that can be tapped into at any age, and that music education should be accessible to everyone.

As a performer, my career spans DIY rock and punk to high-concept performance art, performing on three continents and at spaces like the Guggenheim Museum, Columbia University, and Kino Saito. I have collaborated with musicians, visual artists, dancers and filmmakers, have written and recorded music, and have opened for artists including Vapors of Morphine and performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with Bruce Springsteen.

As a self-taught musician, I am deeply familiar with the insecurities and blockages that can arise in a musical journey, particularly a non-traditional one. I offer compassionate perspective, holistic approach, and time-management strategies to help students maneuver through the challenges that arise in the process of learning.

In addition, I am informed by my studies with Lisa Sokolov, whose holistic method includes an arts therapy approach. I am also informed by my vocal studies with Donna Newman and Gelsey Bell.

In lessons with me, you can learn:

  • guitar and bass guitar fundamentals

  • how to play your favorite songs

  • basic vocal technique

  • songwriting skills

  • DAWs and Logic Pro

  • articulating and achieving goals

  • practice rituals

All ages and experience levels welcome, however I am best qualified to teach young people and adult beginners.
