It Follows My Lead

Sounds Across Social Distances is a “musical exquisite corpse” collaboration between 31 musical artists during the early sheltering-in-place of COVID-19. Curated by Field Guides’ Benedict Kupstas who writes, “As a global pandemic has halted cultural gatherings and led to cancellations of concerts, tours, and recording sessions, we’ve been trying to adapt creatively, finding ways to collaborate across social distances. The collagist dialogue of the exquisite corpse seemed like a fitting approach to roping in a bunch of friends to make something together, apart.” My contribution, “It Follows My Lead”, was written and recorded in my apartment in Bedstuy, Brooklyn on April 13th, 2020.

Performance

“Psychodrama, romance, lust and full-on transgression served with pathos and vulnerability that is usually left unseen in pop music, Performance by Prima (2017) is emotionally and sonically HEAVY. Rose Blanshei's protagonist lies somewhere between Nick Cave and Sophia Loren and her cinematic, dynamic tunes are augmented by NYC's best guitarist Jessica Ackerley.” -Jamie Frey
